Microsoft, Japan police block phishing infrastructure linked to over 1 billion scam messages
Microsoft worked with Japanese police to disrupt cybercrime infrastructure used to spread more than 1 billion phishing messages worldwide. The operation targeted an ecosystem combining sales of hijacked accounts with tools for building fake websites. Investigators tracked the illicit marketplace YAM Store and phishing tools CoGUI and Iron Man. Microsoft said the services supported attacks on more than 75,000 organisations in over 150 countries since January, with over 750 million messages aimed at Microsoft customers.
