Cisco to launch in-house hypervisor to cut solution customers\' reliance on VMware
Cisco will release its application-specific hypervisor, NFVIS-for-UC, within the current quarter. It targets companies seeking to virtualise Cisco communications solutions such as Unified Communications Manager (CUCM). Techzine reported the product provides an environment to run Cisco applications without VMware Cloud Foundation. Cisco has used VMware as a standard platform, but customer costs rose after Broadcom acquired VMware and pushed VCF bundles, driving demand for alternatives.
