Viva Republica, which operates Toss, compared card payment data from May 1 to 18 with the same period a month earlier and found a sharp rise in spending tied to family leisure activities. Activity-sector transactions rose 33 percent, and jumped 68 percent during May 1 to 11.

SKT rolls out May family month benefits including shared family phones and AI security
SK Telecom said on Wednesday it has prepared services and benefits for May, designated as family month in South Korea, ranging from phone gifting to AI security features. It proposed a free add-on service that lets parents hand down devices to children aged 13 or under, offering data coupons, free family roaming and subscription discounts. SKT also highlighted an AI-powered call alert for suspected voice phishing and promoted family roaming options and a forest camp event for long-term customers.

Netmarble Cultural Foundation registers Netmarble Game Museum as Type 1 specialised museum
Netmarble Game Museum, operated by the Netmarble Cultural Foundation, has been officially registered as a Type 1 specialised museum, the first game museum in South Korea to receive the designation. Opened in March last year, it completed the registration after an on-site inspection by Seoul city for private museums. The foundation will hold a free admission event for children from April 28 to May 10 and will be closed on May 4.
