Cryptocurrency use spreads in human trafficking networks, Chainalysis report says
Cryptocurrencies are becoming a major payment method in human trafficking networks, a survey found. CNBC, citing a report by blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis, said crypto transactions tied to human trafficking rose 85 percent in 2025. The report said criminal networks in Southeast Asia are using crypto to build ecosystems combining online gambling, money laundering and trafficking. It also warned illicit use is unlikely to decline in the short term.
