Security must be close to data, Snowflake role set to grow

Snowflake Chief Security and Trust Officer Mayank Upadhyay said security must be built into the data platform and become part of normal workflows. He said Snowflake is approaching AI security in three layers: protecting large language models, managing agent identity and permissions, and securing the data layer. He highlighted the Horizon Guardrails product and the Natoma acquisition, and stressed fast feedback loops, data sovereignty and zero data retention.

Government launches public-private response system for \'hacker-grade\' AI cyber threats

South Korea will launch a joint public-private system to respond to cyber threats using artificial intelligence, reinforcing vulnerability management, patch sharing and corporate security checks. The Ministry of Science and ICT unveiled a private-sector information security plan to address concerns that AI-driven vulnerability discovery could outpace existing defenses. The government will set up an emergency framework for rapid information sharing and joint responses, establish a vulnerability management center at KISA and expand AI-based threat monitoring and international cooperation.

Mytos shock prompts finance watchdog to ease network separation rules in turning point for sector AX

South Korea\'s financial sector is on alert after the emergence of high-performance AI model Mytos, which is seen as capable of planning and carrying out hacking attacks. The Financial Services Commission said it will temporarily ease network separation rules to allow AI use for security purposes at large financial companies and will expand the scope in stages. It also said it will consider fully lifting the rules for firms with strong security and AI capabilities.
