BMTC publishes practical guidelines for Korean Sign Language interpretation broadcasts
The Broadcasting Media and Telecommunications Commission said on Aug. 18 it published practical guidelines on Korean Sign Language interpretation broadcasts with the Korea Communications Agency to improve Deaf viewers’ access to broadcasting. The guidelines set three basic principles, tailored guides for interpreters and broadcasters, practical tips by genre, and a feedback system involving stakeholders. Appendices include last-minute checks and emergency-response lists. Key content is also provided via QR-linked sign-language videos.

BMTC sets up Information Integrity Policy Division for fake content enforcement
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media and Telecommunications Commission has converted a dedicated unit handling policies on false and manipulated information and enforcement against online platforms into a formal division. The move follows the implementation last month of amendments to the Information and Communications Network Act. The new division will handle designation and oversight of large information and communications service providers, demand 자료 submissions, conduct investigations and supervision, and impose fines and penalty surcharges for violations.

Bamito Wi moves to block illegal tracker device sales
The Broadcasting Media and Telecommunications Commission said on Thursday it will strengthen online platform self-regulation and conduct inspections to curb the distribution of illegal location trackers used for stalking and other violent crimes. It plans to display warning messages on major shopping sites and send caution notices on second-hand trading platforms. The commission will also check about 3,200 location information businesses and seek crackdowns on illegal devices with the science ministry.
