Bamito Wi moves to block illegal tracker device sales
The Broadcasting Media and Telecommunications Commission said on Thursday it will strengthen online platform self-regulation and conduct inspections to curb the distribution of illegal location trackers used for stalking and other violent crimes. It plans to display warning messages on major shopping sites and send caution notices on second-hand trading platforms. The commission will also check about 3,200 location information businesses and seek crackdowns on illegal devices with the science ministry.

South Korea, Brazil pursue cooperation in next-generation broadcast media, discuss support for TV 3.0 technology
South Korea and Brazil are pursuing cooperation in next-generation broadcast media. Kim Jong-cheol (김종철), head of the Korea Broadcasting, Media and Telecommunications Commission, met in Seoul with Brazilian Communications Minister Frederico de Siqueira Filho and Brazil’s ambassador to South Korea Marcia Donner Abreu to discuss cooperation. They focused on support for Brazil’s TV 3.0 project and agreed to continue cooperating on stable implementation of a transmission technology adopted as Brazil’s TV 3.0 standard.

Bamituui publishes first telecommunications law interpretation guide for AI service providers
South Korea\'s Broadcasting, Media and Telecommunications Commission on Jan. 20 released its first guide analyzing telecommunications-related laws for AI service providers to ease legal uncertainty stemming from rapid AI development. The guide reviews user protection clauses in the Telecommunications Business Act and the Information and Communications Network Act, including prohibited acts, compensation provisions and rules on illegal and harmful content. It also suggests policy improvement directions and aims to boost regulatory predictability and user trust.
