China steps on gas to commercialise brain-computer interfaces ahead of Elon Musk
China is accelerating the commercial rollout of brain-computer interfaces (BCI), moving beyond research as it builds out pricing and insurance coverage and sets industry targets through 2030. Growth is driven by policy support, clinical resources, manufacturing capability and strategic investment, including an 11.6 billion yuan brain science fund. Chinese firms are raising capital and developing both invasive and non-invasive technologies, while the market is forecast to expand sharply through 2040.
