Bitwise to cut workforce by 14 percent as crypto slump hits ETF firms
Bitwise cut about 14 percent of its workforce, reducing headcount from around 180 to about 155. The layoffs come as weakness in the cryptocurrency market spreads to spot bitcoin ETF issuers. Bitwise manages more than 70 products and about $9 billion in assets, including a $2.3 billion spot bitcoin ETF. The spot bitcoin ETF market totals about $77.5 billion, but assets are concentrated in larger funds such as BlackRock’s IBIT and Fidelity’s FBTC.

His statement did not include a reserves report or a withdrawal timetable. BitMart announced on July 26 it would orderly close the platform, after users complained about access and withdrawals.

Crypto industry\'s \'winner-takes-all\' trend deepens as exchange closures and takeovers mount
The crypto industry is restructuring as revenue concentrates in a small number of protocols, pushing the market into what was described as its biggest consolidation phase. Ark Invest analyst Lorenzo Valente said selective investment has made funding harder for projects and exchanges with weak product-market fit, leading to shutdowns and revenue pooling. Hyperliquid and Pump.fun account for about 67 percent of app revenue, and adding Ethena brings the top three close to 80 percent.
