Semi-solid battery e-bike moves into commercialisation stage
Moves to commercialise semi-solid batteries in electric bicycles are gathering pace, with products moving beyond proof-of-concept to sales-ready models. Giant has begun integrating an e-bike semi-solid battery developed by Bafang affiliate T&D, while California-based Ride1Up is preparing mass production of its moped-style Revv1 EVO. Ride1Up said its battery is undergoing UL certification at a TUV laboratory ahead of August deliveries.

E-bikes: inner rotor vs outer rotor - what is the difference?
E-bike motors split clearly by inner-rotor and outer-rotor designs, with differences in noise, efficiency, cost and applications, according to a comparison by Chinese drive-system maker Bafang cited by BikeBiz. Bafang said inner-rotor motors tend to be quieter and smoother, while outer-rotor motors offer simpler structures and cost advantages. It said each design should be chosen based on purpose and overall product design, stressing integration with controllers, batteries and other components.

E-bike power race wanes as quiet motors become a survival requirement
Riders who have spent time on electric bicycles quickly learn that high output alone does not define the experience, with silence playing a key role. Bafang, one of the world’s largest e-bike motor makers, has long focused on reducing noise. It separates electromagnetic and mechanical sources, using simulations, materials, structural rigidity, gear design, balancing and low-noise bearings. Bafang also runs an acoustic lab and remote testing to analyse frequency effects under varied conditions.
