Hazardous chemicals found in all 81 popular headphone models, study finds
A survey found hazardous chemicals were widely detected in major-brand headphones sold in Europe, fuelling controversy. The investigation, led by Czech environmental group Arnika under the ToxFree LIFE for All project, found endocrine-disrupting substances in all 81 headphone and earphone products tested from five Central European countries and online marketplaces. The assessment graded products by risk, and identified bisphenol A as the main chemical, detected in 98 percent of items.
