ByteDance\'s Doubao loses 6.1 million users after signalling paid subscription
ByteDance’s AI chatbot app Doubao shed 6.1 million monthly active users in May after it signalled it would introduce paid subscriptions. Its MAU fell 1.81 percent to 330 million, marking a rare decline since its 2023 launch. The company unveiled pricing on its iOS page, with plans ranging from 68 yuan a month to 500 yuan. Alibaba’s Qwen gained more than 13 million users in May.
