AI usage, not workflow improvements, becomes metric as developers report rising job insecurity
As companies accelerate adoption of artificial intelligence, many developers say they use AI tools mainly to show they are using them. A survey of 1,000 software developers across Britain, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain found that AI usage is increasingly reflected in performance assessments and KPIs. Respondents reported anxiety about evaluation systems and long-term career prospects, and some feared job losses without AI use. An Adaptavist executive warned this could drive talent departures.
