Popular channels used for MPP bundling; cable operators lack means to refuse
Rules governing channel transactions premised on cable operators\' dominance do not fit current market conditions, a seminar heard. Some large multi-programme providers use popular channels to push bundled deals, leaving operators unable to drop only unwanted channels, analysts said. A professor argued guidelines banning forced bundling are not working in practice and called for recognising refusal of individual contracts as grounds to end a channel. Lawyers also urged assessing bargaining power case by case.

Lotte Shopping fined for unfair practices toward suppliers at Lotte Mart, FTC says
South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission said on March 15 it decided to fine Lotte Shopping 569 million won for violating the law governing fair trade in large-scale retail distribution. The watchdog said Lotte Shopping failed to promptly issue contracts, paid suppliers after statutory deadlines without paying about 34 million won in late interest, and returned goods without required documentation. It also found improper employee dispatch before agreements were signed.
