KT launches NPU LLM Station featuring Korean AI chip

KT has launched an enterprise sovereign AI appliance that integrates a Korean-made AI chip and its own large language model into a single server. The KT NPU LLM Station combines Rebellion\'s ATOM-MAX neural processing unit with KT\'s Mi:deum K 2.5 Pro model and an operating API platform. The on-premises product keeps data and AI processing inside customer premises and is aimed at industries facing regulatory and security constraints on external generative AI.

En-core signs deal with Hanwha Systems on manufacturing AX business, joint development of industry-specific AI services

En-core said on Tuesday it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Hanwha Systems to expand their manufacturing AX business. It said the partnership combines Hanwha Systems’ manufacturing expertise and proprietary AI technology with En-core’s data governance capabilities. The companies plan to jointly develop industry-specific AI services by integrating manufacturing ontology expertise and automation technology with En-core’s ontology building experience.

Mobile carriers shift CAPEX focus from networks to AI data centres

South Korea’s three mobile carriers are shifting capital spending away from base stations and other traditional networks toward AI infrastructure as 5G rollout stabilises and demand for AI data centres rises. SK Telecom and KT cut network-focused CAPEX in the first half, while LG Uplus increased spending tied to its Paju AI data centre. The companies are rolling out expansion plans and reporting rising AI data centre revenue, while maintaining some network investment for 5G standalone and future 6G preparation.
