Chips&Media Q3 operating profit 1.66 billion won, up 8.7 percent on year
Chips&Media said on Oct. 27 it posted consolidated third-quarter revenue of 7.16 billion won and operating profit of 1.66 billion won. Revenue rose 8.2 percent and operating profit gained 8.7 percent from a year earlier. Royalty revenue fell as chip output by customers declined due to memory supply and demand conditions, but the company said expanded new licences in AI and mobility lifted licence revenue. It posted a net loss of 600 million won.

Mercedes to fit Waabi AI driving system within two years
Mercedes has signed a production agreement with British autonomous driving startup Waabi and plans to install Waabi\'s artificial intelligence driving system in its vehicles within two years. It is the first time Waabi\'s end-to-end driving AI will be applied to mass-produced premium passenger cars. The system will be integrated with Mercedes hardware, MB.OS and map interfaces, and offered as an advanced driver assistance feature for city streets and highways. Details were not disclosed.

Chips&Media secures functional safety certification for autonomous driving IP
Chips&Media said on Sept. 3 its next-generation multimedia IP, WAVE6331X FuSa, obtained ISO 26262 ASIL-B functional safety certification from global certification body DNV. The company said the certification followed more than 2 years of research and development and will help it expand from consumer multimedia devices into automotive semiconductors, including advanced driver assistance systems and in-vehicle infotainment. It said the IP detects hardware faults and data corruption and helps shift systems to a safe state within set response times.
