Honam semiconductor, AI data center projects exempted from pre-feasibility review as three mega projects gain pace

South Korea will exempt pre-feasibility reviews for infrastructure projects to build a Honam semiconductor cluster and expand AI data centers. President Lee Jae-myung approved the measures at a cabinet meeting on Aug. 25, along with multiple bills and decrees. The exemptions cover power and water infrastructure for semiconductor industrial complexes and related support projects. Additional plans include support for a southwest semiconductor base, AI data center clusters, AI construction robots and physical AI trials for small manufacturers.

Tesla AI chip executive leaves to join former Dojo team startup DencityAI

A key executive who led Tesla\'s AI hardware design has moved to DencityAI, a startup founded by the former Dojo team. The executive, Sishuai Sun, has worked at DencityAI since July on packaging and system hardware. He previously spent more than five years at Tesla on Dojo and Autopilot computers and most recently served as senior director of AI hardware design. The move comes as Tesla advances AI5 and AI6 chip plans and builds manufacturing infrastructure.

KOSPI faces 7,000 test with Nvidia earnings, U.S. Treasury yields in focus

South Korean stocks are expected to take cues this week from Nvidia earnings and the U.S. July personal consumption expenditures price index. Semiconductor profit expectations and large shareholder-return plans are seen supporting the downside, but U.S. long-term yields and Middle East uncertainty remain variables. Investors will also watch the Jackson Hole symposium and U.S. rate-path signals. The KOSPI may retest 7,000 if AI demand holds and inflation does not surprise higher.
