IBK chief Jang Min-young says inclusive finance needs lifecycle support, not just low-rate loans
IBK Industrial Bank of Korea outlined a new growth strategy focused on support for small and midsize firms, AI-driven digital transformation and stronger inclusive finance, CEO Jang Min-young (장민영) said. Jang said inclusive finance should go beyond providing low-interest loans and cover support across the full cycle, including helping vulnerable borrowers after funding and aiding recovery when problems arise. He also said the bank is reviewing issues in the current credit-rating system and other measures.

Agent banking is coming; Webcash says bank competition to intensify next year
B2B fintech firm Webcash is moving to secure solutions for the emerging era of AI agent banking, which it sees as a core axis of next-generation financial competition. At a conference in Seoul, it unveiled the architecture and use cases of OPERIA, an engine that connects general-purpose AI with banks’ relational databases. Webcash said internal tests showed 99 percent accuracy in its cash management solution and introduced a V2 cash management agent expanding coverage to about 800 customers.

Webcash decides to cancel about 680,000 treasury shares to boost shareholder value
Webcash said it filed a disclosure on March 16 on plans to cancel previously acquired treasury shares worth 8.86 billion won. The company said the move is its second shareholder-return measure since 2023, with the cancellation amount about 90 percent larger than the previous one and scheduled for March 31. Webcash said it has pursued shareholder returns through buybacks, cancellations and dividends, while pushing to shift its solutions to AI agent-based offerings.
