Swyftx eyes crypto payments after securing Australian licence
Australian cryptocurrency exchange Swyftx has secured an Australian Financial Services Licence and is pushing to enter the crypto payments business. The licence allows Swyftx to offer derivatives such as crypto options and futures to retail clients, as well as non-cash payment services. The company said it has a foundation to launch payment services for corporate and individual customers, but it does not hold an AFSL covering spot cryptocurrency services.

Coinbase\'s Australian unit has launched a cryptocurrency investment support service for investors in self-managed super funds (SMSFs), The Block reported on Monday. Coinbase executives said the service offers a data download function aligned with local accounting standards and a corporate verification process tailored to domestic fund structures. More than 664,000 SMSFs operated in Australia at the end of 2025, with total assets of about A$1.06 trillion ($758.2 billion).
