Ericsson unveils 5G standalone network-based advanced location service
Ericsson said on Sunday it will introduce a 5G Advanced Location Service based on 5G standalone networks. Designed to enhance location-based services across commercial 5G SA networks, it targets accuracy of under 10 cm outdoors and under 1 m indoors. Ericsson said the capability is embedded in 5G SA core functions and can work without extra sensors, overlay infrastructure or device-side apps, while improving battery life compared with satellite-based methods.
