South Korea’s digital creator media industry generated 5.5 trillion won in revenue last year, up 4.4 percent from a year earlier, according to a survey by the Korea Radio Promotion Association and the Broadcasting Media Communications Commission. Advertising, marketing and commerce businesses increased sharply and became the sector’s core segment despite a fall in total firms. Average revenue per company rose, while most businesses remained small in size. Youth workers accounted for over half of industry employment.

South Korean media agencies hosted an international conference on strengthening information integrity as disinformation spreads in the AI era. Officials and experts from OECD, IFCN, ACMA and academia discussed policy needs, fact-checking, platform accountability and national codes of practice. Participants also stressed literacy education and broader cooperation among stakeholders. Organisers plan to expand international cooperation and continue policy discussions based on the event’s presentations and debate.
