Ripple Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Stuart Alderoty (스튜어트 알데로티) urged the U.S. Congress to move quickly on the “Clarity Act” pending on Capitol Hill, linking it to jobs and economic growth.

On Aug. 30 (local time), blockchain outlet U.Today reported that Alderoty wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “A vote for Clarity is a vote for jobs and economic growth.”

Alderoty’s remarks came shortly after new survey results summarised the U.S. crypto industry’s employment impact. A report issued jointly by the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA) and the Pragmatic Policy Group estimated the crypto industry could create 232,000 jobs in the United States by 2026.

Of those, about 34,000 would be direct employment by crypto companies such as Ripple and Coinbase. About 75,000 additional jobs were tallied through industry suppliers and contractors such as law firms, cloud computing companies and accounting firms.

The report also found the industry’s economic contribution was significant. It said the crypto industry contributes more than $55 billion to the U.S. economy and generates about $31 billion in worker income. California had the largest number of jobs at about 57,600, followed by New York with 53,800 and Texas with 26,500. Washington was counted at 15,100, North Carolina at 9,500 and Colorado at 5,800.

Wages also exceeded the U.S. average. The average pay for the jobs covered in the report was about $133,000, well above the U.S. median wage of $64,000. The figure highlighted that the crypto industry is forming a base of high-paying jobs beyond a simple investment market.

Still, the legislative process for the Clarity Act is not yet complete. The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives in July 2025 by 294 votes to 134 and then moved to the Senate. The Senate Banking Committee also advanced the bill in early May this year in a bipartisan 15-9 vote, and senators released amended text in July.

But the schedule slipped after Senate Republican leader John Thune postponed a vote that had been planned until after the August recess. A cloture vote is currently scheduled for Sept. 15. White House officials believe the bill could continue to make progress in September, but assessments say the current environment is not favourable for crypto market bulls.

In this situation, Alderoty broadened the meaning of the bill’s passage beyond regulatory clarity itself and framed it in terms of jobs and growth. If the Clarity Act is handled, the case for expanding hiring by U.S. crypto companies and related industries could gain more support, but the actual pace of legislation will depend on the outcome of the Senate vote in September.
