A semiconductor back-end process company posted a new quarterly record. Hanamicron said on Aug. 28 it held a shareholder meeting for the second half of the year at the Financial Investment Education Institute in Seoul's Yeouido on Aug. 27 and shared its second-quarter results and business strategy for the second half.
Hanamicron posted consolidated second-quarter revenue of 683.2 billion won and operating profit of 142.3 billion won. Revenue rose 101 percent from a year earlier and operating profit climbed 371 percent, setting record quarterly highs for both. The operating margin improved to 20.8 percent from 8.9 percent in the second quarter last year.
At its headquarters, system semiconductor revenue including large-body packages is rising as the memory semiconductor business gradually recovers. Its Vietnam unit topped 250.0 billion won in revenue on higher output tied to increased memory demand. Its Brazil unit posted revenue of 272.5 billion won on rising memory prices, surpassing its total revenue for last year, it said.
Hanamicron plans to sustain growth in the second half by expanding production capacity and diversifying products. At its headquarters, it will increase capacity on existing packaging lines and review building a new production line. Its Vietnam unit will push to expand turnkey memory output at its Bac Giang plant and expand cleanrooms at its Bac Ninh plant, while its Brazil unit will move to expand supply of server DRAM and commercialise new products.
CEO Dong-cheol Lee (이동철) said the company delivered record quarterly revenue and operating profit in the second quarter on growth at key production bases and improved profitability. He said it will continue its growth momentum in the second half through global capacity expansion and portfolio diversification, and strengthen competitiveness in advanced packaging and system semiconductors to further solidify its medium- to long-term growth foundation.
