SK Telecom has entered the government's "Everyone's AI" project.
SKT said on Tuesday it will participate in the tender for the "Everyone's AI" project being promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.
SKT will use its full-stack capabilities, with its own AI service, model and infrastructure. It will work with specialised companies in each field to implement AI services across areas of daily life and expand the service based on about 22.5 million mobile lines.
SKT plans to first introduce an AI chatbot that supports conversation, search and summarisation, document and image analysis, and schedule management. It will later expand beyond simple question-and-answer functions into an AI agent service that handles actual work. It aims to support reservations, applications and payments in daily-life areas such as healthcare, transport, finance and education, including searching for and applying for public services and issuing various certificates.
SKT operates its AI service "A.(A-dot)", which has about 10 million monthly users. It also participated in the government's "independent AI foundation model" project and introduced its in-house AI model "A.X K2" with 688 billion parameters. A.X K2 is expanding its range of applications into industrial fields including manufacturing, defence and bio.
The Everyone's AI service will apply the in-house AI model A.X K2. The company plans to process simple questions quickly with a lightweight model and use a high-performance model for complex tasks to improve service quality and operational efficiency. It plans to advance the service into a nationwide AI platform so that people can easily find needed services, entrust tasks with confidence and safely receive results.
SKT also formed an "Everyone's AI" consortium with more than 20 companies and institutions to implement services across all areas of daily life.
In the consortium, Liner will participate in specialised search. Shinhan Card and Hana Card will handle finance and payments, TMAP Mobility will cover mobility, SK Broadband will handle content, and Persona AI will take charge of public data. Elice Group will participate in education, and Goodoc and Soundable Health will join in healthcare. In AI model and infrastructure, Nota and Selectstar will participate, and in AI security, Aim Intelligence and others will join.
SKT plans to link services and AI in each field to move beyond providing information and upgrade the service to actually perform tasks such as reservations or applications at users' requests.
Kim Ji-hoon (김지훈), head of SKT's AI Business Division, said, "We need an environment where everyone can enjoy the benefits of AI." He added, "SKT will work to implement the Everyone's AI service based on full-stack AI capabilities and touchpoints with telecom customers nationwide."
