NHN Cloud said on Aug. 13 it verified the operational stability of TmaxTibero's Tibero Active Cluster (TAC) in a multi-hypervisor-based cloud environment and applied it to the Daegu public-private partnership (PPP) cloud.
Tibero TAC is a high-availability solution based on active-active clustering, in which multiple database servers process tasks simultaneously. Even if a failure occurs on one server, another can continue the service, minimising service disruptions.
To secure TAC's high availability in a cloud environment, a redundancy configuration is needed that distributes 2 virtual machines across different hypervisor nodes. That allows a virtual machine on the other hypervisor to keep running even if one hypervisor fails.
NHN Cloud said it applied single root I/O virtualisation (SR-IOV) technology in the proof of concept so that fast, stable communication between database servers is possible even in a virtualised environment.
The two companies verified core performance required to operate TAC through the work, it said. The company said this was the first time NHN Cloud had worked with the developer to conduct a TAC proof of concept in a multi-hypervisor environment.
After completing key verification, NHN Cloud said it completed application of Tibero TAC in July to the public-private partnership cloud space at the National Information Resources Service Daegu Center.
The Daegu PPP is a space set up to promote the introduction of private cloud services in the public sector. Services including the pan-government service integrated portal, the National Geographic Information Institute, the Central Veterans Hospital and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education are hosted and operated on NHN Cloud infrastructure.
NHN Cloud said the application created a foundation that allows public institutions to use cloud resource scalability and TAC high availability together while reducing the burden of building separate physical infrastructure.
An NHN Cloud official said, "Starting with this TAC application, we will continue to develop technologies and services so that even public systems that require high availability can fully take advantage of the cloud."
