[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] XRP stopped a five-day slide against bitcoin and briefly rebounded last week.

On Aug. 8 (local time), blockchain media outlet U.Today reported that the XRP/BTC pair reversed a bearish move that had continued since Aug. 3 and showed signs of bouncing from oversold territory.

The key is whether XRP can regain relative strength against bitcoin. On a daily chart, the relative strength index (RSI) once fell to 25 and has now risen to 35. But 35 still indicates a bearish zone, making it hard to conclude a trend reversal based on this rebound alone. Even after the bounce from oversold levels, XRP needs to extend strength against bitcoin to confirm whether the recent phase of relative weakness has ended.

In derivatives markets, signs of inflows appeared first. XRP open interest (OI) rose 7 percent over the past 24 hours to $2.52 billion. Over the same period, bitcoin and ether fell 2.48 percent and 1.95 percent, respectively. Dogecoin and BNB rose about 3 percent, and solana jumped 6.60 percent. The increase in XRP open interest was interpreted as traders adding positions following news of progress in the XRP and Ripple ecosystems.

Spot prices showed a short-term rebound, but remain weak on a weekly basis. XRP is currently above $1.03 and is down 4.27 percent over the past week. Even if prices have moved into a pullback, it is too early to say the trend has fully changed in both derivatives and spot markets.

XRP Ledger technical updates also drew market attention. XRP Ledger version 3.3.0, released last week, includes new amendments as well as bug fixes and build improvements. Rather than new features themselves, ongoing network maintenance and improvements are being reflected in the ecosystem trend.

Expansion moves across Ripple and XRP Ledger also continued. Token Relations noted that new milestones emerged in the Ripple and XRP ecosystems in July. Ripple opened a university digital asset accelerator in Brazil as part of its university blockchain research initiative. It also joined as a launch partner for OpenUSD, which offers free issuance and burning and a revenue-sharing governance model.

There were also achievements outside the corporate side. Ripple was included in CNBC and Statista's list of the world's top fintech companies for 2026. XRP Ledger recorded more than 1.7 million agent-type transactions by the end of July after surpassing 1 million on July 15.

The latest moves are notable because the price rebound signal, an expansion of derivatives positions and the XRPL update coincided. As the Ripple and XRPL ecosystem continues to expand, market attention is focused on whether XRP can break out of relative weakness against bitcoin.
