AI data and solutions company Flitto said on Aug. 5 it has supplied CJ Olive Young's key offline stores with its AI-based interpretation and translation solution, Chat Translation.
The solution was introduced mainly at major stores in Seoul, Busan and Jeju that attract large numbers of foreign tourists. Depending on store conditions, it is provided as a beauty consulting-focused version and a staff PDA app version.
The beauty consulting-focused version was applied at key Olive Young stores including N Seongsu, Apgujeong Rodeo, Central Gangnam Town, Gyeongju Hwangnam and Beauty Mansion Seongsu. It is used for product explanations and consultations for foreign customers.
About 2,100 accounts were distributed for the staff PDA app, allowing store employees to use it on site.
Chat Translation supports up to 42 languages. Flitto said it enhanced translation performance for proper nouns and technical terms in beauty, including cosmetic ingredients and product names, based on Olive Young products and real usage data.
The beauty consulting-focused version is used about 15 to 20 times a day on average per store. It is used not only for English, Chinese and Japanese, but also for responding in Southeast Asian and European languages. Some stores used it for consultations with Russian-speaking customers and guidance on signing up for the Olive Young app.
Flitto said it expects support for multilingual product explanations and recommendations to improve purchase convenience for foreign customers and reduce the burden on store staff.
Flitto CEO Jung-soo Lee (이정수) said, "It is meaningful to build a shopping environment without language barriers together with Olive Young," and added, "We will expand partnerships to various industries that need multilingual communication."
