As language and payment barriers in delivery apps are cited as obstacles to attracting foreign tourists, Baemin has teamed up with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to improve the environment for foreign users. Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, said it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Seoul Metropolitan Government on Aug. 5 to promote gourmet tourism and revitalise the local economy.

Under the agreement, Baemin will upgrade its functions to make the app easier for foreign tourists to use, while the city will handle promotion and on-site guidance for foreigners. Baemin provides multilingual services in English, Chinese and Japanese and supports various overseas payment methods, the only domestic delivery app to do so.

The two sides will run a K-delivery experience campaign for foreign tourists for the whole of August, linked to the Seoul city's night-time economy project called the "2026 Hangang Bamping". The campaign will take place at Yeouido Hangang Park and Ttukseom Hangang Park. During the event, the areas around the two parks will operate a space specialised for late-night food purchases and a night-time delivery zone.

Baemin will run a promotion page exclusively for foreign tourists during this period, and it can also be accessed via QR codes on on-site promotional banners. The page provides festival information in English, Japanese and Chinese, and offers a 3,000 won discount coupon for orders of 20,000 won or more. Foreigners can sign up using a South Korean phone number or a foreign resident registration number. They can also place orders without signing up by verifying via text message to an overseas phone number.

Yoon Seok-jun (윤석준), head of the brand communication strategy division at Woowa Brothers, said customers who had hesitated to use the app due to differences in language and payment methods will now be able to comfortably experience K-delivery anywhere in Seoul. He said the company will continue to develop related services so foreign tourists can more familiarly experience Korean food through the Baemin app.
