LG Electronics will hold experience events for its new cleaning robot, the LG Homebot AI Objet Collection RONi (RONi, hereafter LG RONi), in stages at major department stores nationwide. LG Electronics said on Tuesday it will run a pop-up experience zone on the first floor of Hyundai Department Store's Pangyo branch through Aug. 12.

The experience zone will showcase a "hidden station" that conceals the robot and station in the toe-kick space under a kitchen sink, and an "Objet station" design that applies a bedside-table-style exterior.

The hidden station is designed with a height of 15 cm, allowing installation while keeping existing storage space without additional lower-cabinet construction. When LG RONi returns to the station, the door closes so the robot's camera is not exposed outside. The Objet station is ergonomically designed in areas such as handle placement and the structure for detaching the water tank, the company said.

A demonstration of cleaning performance will also be held. LG Electronics said it applied a 100 degrees Celsius steam function to both the robot and the station, and equipped it with 30W suction power and a mop that spins at high speed 180 times per minute. The company said this is the world's first case of applying steam to both a cleaning robot and its station.

LG Electronics plans to continue the event at Lotte Department Store's Incheon branch (Aug. 14 to 23) and Shinsegae Department Store's Gangnam branch (Aug. 25 to 31). LG RONi, released on July 2, is recording about three times the sales volume over the same period compared with the company's new suction-and-mopping combination cleaning robot products, the company said.
