The United States and Britain reaffirmed that they would cooperate on digital asset regulation, including stablecoins and tokenisation. Cointelegraph reported on Aug. 4 that authorities from the two countries discussed stablecoin regulation, the U.S. digital asset market structure, tokenisation and Britain’s digital strategy for wholesale financial markets at the 13th UK-U.S. Financial Regulatory Working Group meeting held in London on July 8.
The U.S. side at the meeting explained to the British side the implementation status of a major stablecoin bill, the GENIUS Act, and the progress of work related to the digital asset market structure. The two sides also addressed payment modernisation and the Group of 20 roadmap for cross-border payments.
No new policy was announced at the meeting. The two countries, however, reaffirmed their position that they would continue to align regulation in key areas of the digital asset industry. A joint statement struck a stance favourable to "responsible" digital asset innovation, while stressing the importance of financial stability and international regulatory cooperation.
The trend continued on July 14. The Atlantic Taskforce for the Future of Markets issued its first recommendations along with a joint stablecoin statement. The two governments said the step would serve as a foundation for continued U.S. and British leadership in digital assets and capital markets.
