[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee] Hana Bank's issuance of ISIC international student identity cards has exceeded 20,000 this year. The bank said this followed the launch of cards linked to its overseas travel service, Travelog, and products that foreign students in South Korea can also obtain.

Hana Bank said on Sunday that cumulative issuance of ISIC international student cards from January to July topped 20,000.

ISIC is an international student identity card that certifies student status in South Korea and abroad and offers discounts on travel and cultural facilities, transportation and lodging. An ISIC Association annual report for 2025 says the card is issued in 104 countries and provides more than 150,000 benefits, services and discounts.

Hana Bank offers the Hana Travelog ISIC international student identity check card and the Young Hana ISIC international student identity check card. They are available not only to South Korean students but also to foreign students enrolled at universities in South Korea.

The Hana Travelog ISIC international student identity check card applies a 100 percent preferential exchange rate to 58 currencies. It also offers exemptions from overseas payment and usage fees and overseas automated teller machine cash withdrawal fees.

The Young Hana ISIC international student identity check card is available to foreign students enrolled at universities in South Korea. The bank described itself as the only bank in South Korea that supports ISIC international student identity cards for foreign students.

Hana Bank plans to run an event from Sept. 1 to subsidise ISIC international student identity card certification fees for university students.

A Hana Bank official said, "This surpassing of 20,000 ISIC international student cards is the result of efforts to improve financial convenience for not only South Korean students but also foreign students staying in the country." The official added, "We will expand services tailored to university students' lifestyles."
