Pearl Abyss said on Aug. 3 that its new title Crimson Desert won the best international game award at the China Game Innovation Awards 2026 (CGIA) held during ChinaJoy, China's largest game show.

Now in its sixth year, CGIA is an awards ceremony hosted by the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association and run by game platform TapTap. The best international game award is given to overseas games that have achieved results in gameplay, use of technology and art design.

Pearl Abyss said it has again demonstrated Crimson Desert's technical capabilities through the CGIA win in China, following the technical innovation award at the Develop:Star Awards in Britain. China's Metacritic media Gamersky gave Crimson Desert a score of 86 and assessed its expansive open-world content positively.

Pearl Abyss will support Chinese-language voice and subtitles for Crimson Desert to target the local market in China. Last year it ran standalone booths at BilibiliWorld and ChinaJoy to expand its contact points with local users.

On July 31, it participated in ChinaJoy 2026 together with Chinese display manufacturer TCL. Through TCL's booth at the site, it showcased Crimson Desert's combat and open-world content, and it held an after-party for local media and partner companies to strengthen its network.
