[Digital Today reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] XRP Ledger's account-to-account payment volume has topped 1 billion XRP in a day.

Blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on Aug. 2 (local time) that XRP Ledger's daily payment volume rose to about 1.13 billion XRP. That was more than double recent daily levels and was tallied as the biggest transaction surge over the past month.

The increase comes after relatively low network flows in recent weeks. Unlike exchange trading volume, account-to-account payment volume shows the amount of XRP moved directly between network accounts. That is why it is often used as an indicator to gauge actual blockchain usage flows rather than speculative market trading.

The background to the sharp rise over a short period includes speculation about expanded on-chain activity by large holders or institutions. Still, the figure alone does not confirm whether it reflected buying, selling or internal wallet rebalancing. Large payment flows have previously coincided with periods of increased market activity, but they may not translate directly into immediate buying pressure in the open market.

Price moves are still separate. XRP is currently trading below its 50-day, 100-day and 200-day exponential moving averages. On the daily chart, it has broken below a small symmetrical triangle that had been forming throughout July. It slipped under a lower trend line and has not regained it, a sign read as increased network activity not yet turning into sustained market demand.

Momentum indicators also do not show a clear direction. The relative strength index is 47, staying in neutral territory that is neither overbought nor oversold. That leads to views that the next move remains open in either direction depending on whether buying pressure materialises.

The gap between internal network flows and price is not rare for XRP. Large payments can stem from whale wallet reshuffling, exchange treasury management or settlement between institutions, and such moves do not necessarily create immediate buying in the market. Even so, the payment volume exceeding 1.13 billion XRP shows XRP Ledger is still operating actively beneath the surface.

A key point to watch is whether the rise proves a one-day spike or develops into a longer-term trend. If expanded network activity continues, it could strengthen XRP's fundamentals. If broader market investment sentiment also improves and the price breaks back above nearby moving averages, the reliability of a recovery signal could rise further.

Ultimately, market participants are likely to watch for now whether XRP Ledger's high activity level holds into the next trading stretch. Beyond a simple surge in network transfers, a sustained on-chain growth trend and a recovery above key moving averages in price would be needed for a bullish-turn view to gain traction.
