[Digital Today reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] Japan-listed Quantum Solutions sold 1,000 ether (ETH) it held and sharply raised its cumulative disposal limit. The company plans to deploy the funds in its AI infrastructure business.
CoinPost, a blockchain media outlet, reported on Thursday that Quantum Solutions, which is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Standard market, disclosed that it sold 1,000 ETH held by a consolidated subsidiary on Wednesday.
The company also revised a group-wide Ethereum sale plan announced on June 4. It raised the cumulative disposal limit to 4,375 ETH from 1,875 ETH and decided to keep the sale period through Oct. 30.
The move is part of a financial strategy to secure funding for its AI infrastructure business. Quantum Solutions is pursuing AI business in the Asia-Pacific region and is known in the crypto industry as one of the listed companies that hold Ethereum as a treasury asset. The company previously said it planned to sell part of its Ethereum holdings to secure investment funds needed for its AI data center (AIDC) business.
Quantum Solutions said the sale decision took into account the group's funding needs, efficiency in fund management, financial soundness and crypto market conditions. Proceeds were disclosed at about 311 million yen.
After the sale, the company's Ethereum holdings fell to 4,764.80 ETH. Based on the newly adjusted disposal limit, it can sell up to an additional 2,471 ETH. The company put the average acquisition cost of its current holdings at $2,003.97 per ETH. It added that the figure was calculated based on the book value after a mark-to-market valuation at the end of May 2026 and may differ from actual purchase prices.
Some accounting losses are also expected to be reflected. Quantum Solutions estimated it would recognise a disposal loss of about 17 million yen in second-quarter results for the year ending February 2027. The loss amount is calculated based on the book value at the end of the first quarter.
The company also explained why it expanded the cumulative disposal cap. After announcing the sale of 904 ETH on June 16, progress in its AI data center business increased demand for investment funds, it said, adding that the decision was intended to secure funding more flexibly in line with project progress.
It said the timing of any future sales would be decided in the same way as its existing policy, taking market conditions into account. It said it would conduct additional sales at an appropriate time after reviewing Ethereum prices, the crypto market environment, progress in the AIDC business and funding needs.
The market is watching how much of the remaining amount available for sale Quantum Solutions will actually dispose of by the end of October, and how quickly the secured funds will be deployed into AI business including AI data centre construction and expansion of GPU infrastructure.
