KT said on Wednesday it will unveil the development journey and latest results of its in-house AI model 'Mi:dm K' at MWC26.

KT said it began developing Mi:dm K with the goal of implementing an AI model that can take responsibility for real work and service quality in Korean corporate and public-sector environments. It chose a long-term strategy to design and control the entire process in-house, including data acquisition, pre-training and evaluation systems, and has steadily advanced Korea-tailored AI capabilities based on principles for trustworthy AI.

Mi:dm is an acronym for "Mindful Intelligence that Dialogs, eMpathizes, understands and moves" and reflects the meaning of pursuing AI that coexists with humans. The 1.0 model released in 2023 ranked first on a Korean-language model leaderboard, demonstrating its technology. It was applied to KT customer services such as GiGA Genie emotional dialogue and AI care, validating usability in a commercial environment.

In July 2025, KT introduced version 2.0, consisting of an 11.5B base model and a 2.3B on-device mini model. At launch, it ranked first in an evaluation on the Korean-specialised KoDarkBench. In December last year, it became the first in South Korea to obtain AI reliability certification, proving it is an AI model with top-level safety and reliability in the country.

KT is putting "Mi:dm K 2.5 Pro" at the forefront at MWC26. It has been expanded to 32B to strengthen knowledge density and reasoning performance. It supports 128K token input, enabling analysis of long documents spanning hundreds of pages. It recorded the best performance among Korean AI models under the global AI evaluation platform AAII v3.0. It achieved 87 percent on "τ²-bench", which measures agentic AI performance, demonstrating tool use and task execution capabilities.

Oh Seung-pil (오승필), head of KT's Technology Innovation Division and a vice president, said Mi:dm K is a core foundational technology for KT AI that has been validated in real service settings beyond the research stage. He said KT will use MWC26 as a turning point to promote the competitiveness of Korean-style AI in the global market and establish itself as an agentic AI partner.
