AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series has expanded into the entry-level lineup as it moves to target the mainstream PC gaming market. AMD said on Tuesday it launched the Radeon RX 9050 graphics card with a suggested retail price of $279.

The new product is designed based on AMD's latest graphics processing architecture, RDNA 4. It has 16 compute units and 8GB of GDDR6 graphics memory. The game clock is 1.92 GHz and the maximum boost clock is 2.60 GHz. Total board power is 92 watts, a level that can be installed in an existing system without replacing a separate power supply.

Performance figures released by AMD showed 96 frames in 'Cyberpunk 2077', 116 frames in 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 7' and 593 frames in 'Valorant' at 1080p with medium settings. It posted particularly high frame rates in esports titles.

AMD also released its driver software, 'AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition' 26.7.1, alongside the launch. The driver provides official launch-day support for the Radeon RX 9050 and also supports early multiplayer access for 'Gears of War: E-Day'. AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution, ray tracing and AV1 video streaming were also included in the supported features list.
