Charles Hoskinson (찰스 호스킨슨), founder of Cardano, said the threat from quantum computing could test bitcoin's ability to coordinate upgrades and ultimately shake its status as the world's largest cryptocurrency.
The Block reported on July 24 that Hoskinson argued Cardano's official on-chain governance and ability to execute upgrades can respond better to such existential technological threats.
He said on July 24 on "The Starting Block", "The problem with bitcoin is that time has stopped. It is very difficult to change anything." He explained that early frustration with bitcoin's rigidity became a motivation for the creation of Ethereum. Hoskinson co-founded Ethereum with Vitalik Buterin.
Hoskinson went on to argue that Cardano maintains flexibility while keeping to bitcoin's founding principles. "Cardano is, in many ways, bitcoin's spiritual successor," he said. "It corrects a number of areas that Satoshi could not fully address due to a lack of expertise or time, but was trying to move toward directionally."
