[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] AI coding startup Poolside said on July 21 (local time) it has unveiled an open-weight foundation model for coding agents called 'Laguna S 2.1.'
The company said Laguna S 2.1 has 118 billion parameters. It showed performance that matched or outperformed models several times larger, including DeepSeek-V4-Flash, Nvidia Nemotron 3 Ultra and Thinking Machines' Inkling, on the Terminal-Bench 2.1 and SWE-Bench Pro benchmarks.
Laguna S 2.1 can run on a single Nvidia DGX Spark system, it said. The model weights were released on Hugging Face under the OpenMDW-1.1 license. Laguna S 2.1 is an expanded version of the XS model released a few weeks ago. Poolside said it is not yet at the level of top-tier models but already has sufficient performance.
