KB Kookmin Bank was selected for a third consecutive time as the preferred bidder to serve as Seoul Metro’s main banking partner. If it signs a final contract, it will handle Seoul Metro’s funding and payment operations from 2027 to 2030.
KB Kookmin Bank said on Tuesday it was reselected as the preferred bidder for Seoul Metro’s main banking partner.
Seoul Metro is an urban rail operator that runs Seoul Subway lines 1 to 8 and parts of Line 9.
KB Kookmin Bank has handled Seoul Metro’s funding and payment operations since 2020. It was selected as the preferred bidder based on its operational experience and proposals for digital financial services tailored to the operator’s working environment.
If KB Kookmin Bank signs a final contract after talks with Seoul Metro, it will serve as the main banking partner for 4 years from 2027 to 2030. That would extend the financial cooperation period with Seoul Metro to 11 years.
KB Kookmin Bank plans to provide operating fund management, operation of an integrated cash management system and digital financial services. It will also support customised financial services for the institution to improve the efficiency and transparency of cash flows.
Kim Young-il (김영일), a deputy head of KB Kookmin Bank’s Institutional Sales Group, said, "We will stably support the financial services needed for Seoul Metro’s operations and continue a long-term cooperative relationship."
