[Digital Today reporter Sangyeop Oh] Dunamu has unveiled an artificial intelligence-based backtesting tool that allows users to verify digital-asset trading strategies entered in natural language using historical price data.

Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, said on Monday it had released a beta version of the "Upbit Strategy Toolkit".

The Upbit Strategy Toolkit is a tool that turns users' investment ideas, entered in everyday conversational language, into simulated trading strategies and analyzes performance based on historical data.

Users can check the strategy's return, maximum drawdown (MDD) and win rate before putting in real money. Fees by market and trade execution conditions are also reflected in the analysis.

To address the risk that typical generative AI could produce distorted results by generating arbitrary price data or applying inaccurate calculations, it separated the roles of the AI agent and the backtest engine.

The AI converts users' trading ideas into strategy rules that can be calculated, while the toolkit's built-in backtest engine uses Upbit's historical price data to calculate actual performance.

It supports 15 technical indicators, including the relative strength index (RSI), moving average convergence-divergence (MACD) and Bollinger Bands. Analysis intervals range from 1-second bars to 1-month candles.

Users can talk with the AI agent and change buy and sell conditions, the analysis period and indicator criteria to compare performance across multiple strategies.

For example, users can enter a condition such as "buy when RSI is 30 or below and sell when it is 70 or above," then adjust the period or threshold values to check changes in returns and risk indicators.

The Upbit Strategy Toolkit can also be linked with AI coding agents that users use individually, including Claude Code, Cursor and Codex.

An Upbit official said, "We lowered the entry barrier to running backtests by using AI while increasing the reproducibility of the verification results," adding, "We will continue to provide an advanced system and an efficient user environment."
