[Digital Today reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] The iPhone 18 Pro could be released in three colors: dark cherry, light blue and silver-gray.
On July 1 (local time), IT outlet 9to5Mac reported that Weibo leaker Instant Digital suggested "dark cherry", "light blue" and "silver-gray" as iPhone 18 Pro colors.
The key point in the leak is not the number of colors, but the possible absence of a black line. If the information is correct, Apple will keep a three-color lineup for the Pro model this year as well, excluding dark gray or black options. The outlet pointed out, "There will be no black option again."
Market attention is focused on whether the color strategy will follow a similar 흐름 to last year. Ahead of the iPhone 17 Pro unveiling last year, there were expectations of up to five colors, but the actual release was limited to three: cosmic orange, deep blue and silver. The absence of a dark gray or black option also stood out at the time.
If this lineup is confirmed, dark cherry could become the signature color pushed to the forefront of marketing. The original text said it expected "dark cherry to be the most eye-catching color, like cosmic orange." Light blue was presented as a replacement for the existing deep blue, while silver was suggested as an option similar to last year but with a different tone.
It is still difficult to see it as final. With about two months left until launch, it cannot be definitive how many colors Apple will ultimately offer. The outlet also reported, "With two months to go, it is not clear what Apple will actually choose."
Even so, leaked information on some color combinations is converging in a certain direction. The outlet said, "Whether it is a three-model release or a four-model release, there is a certain level of consensus on which colors will be included." As a result, the key question narrows to whether Apple will again limit the range of base colors for the Pro lineup this year, or broaden the lineup at the last minute by adding a black series or additional colors.
From a product-introduction perspective, the leak goes beyond simple exterior details. With smartphone replacement demand stagnating, manufacturers are trying to differentiate through design elements such as colors and materials as well as performance. In this situation, if Apple keeps to just three colors similar to last year, it could be read as a sign that it is taking a more selective approach to the Pro lineup’s color strategy.
Ultimately, what has been confirmed so far remains at the level of the leaker’s claims. Still, given last year’s precedent where the number of actual release colors fell short of expectations, the iPhone 18 Pro’s color options this year could also end up more limited than expected.
