SK AX said on July 2 it signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Electric Power Engineering & Construction, a comprehensive power plant design firm, at SK U Tower in Seongnam, Gyeonggi province, to cooperate on AX in the power generation and energy industry.

Korea Electric Power Engineering & Construction is pursuing AX innovation to respond to changes in future energy businesses such as small modular reactors (SMRs) and renewable energy.

The two companies will phase in AX innovation from back-office areas such as management control to core business areas such as power plant design and operations.

They plan to gradually introduce SK AX’s core AX platforms, including AXgenticWire AiPMO and AXgenticWire NPO Agent Builder, to improve company-wide work efficiency at Korea Electric Power Engineering & Construction. AXgenticWire AiPMO (AI Project Management Office) is a comprehensive project management AX platform that uses AI to support the entire execution process for power generation and energy projects, including proposals, kick-off, schedule and cost management, risk checks and performance management.

Kim Wan-jong (김완종), president of SK AX, said demand for AI innovation in the power generation and energy industry is expanding rapidly from design to operations and maintenance. He said the cooperation will be carried forward into an AI augmentation system that delivers tangible results across the sector, including in processes, operating systems and governance.

Kim Tae-gyun (김태균), president of Korea Electric Power Engineering & Construction, said AX is now a necessary task rather than an option in the power generation industry and engineering, and that it is time to create innovation that provides practical help to worksites and day-to-day operations. He said the company will combine its expertise with SK AX’s AI technology capabilities to present a new standard of innovation for the future power generation industry.
