SK Broadband said on Tuesday it will launch a monthly subscription product, B tv+ max, that includes content from KBS, MBC and SBS.
B tv+ max adds terrestrial broadcaster content to the existing monthly VOD subscription B tv+. It focuses on reducing the cost and inconvenience of having to subscribe to multiple OTT services. It provides more than 300,000 domestic and overseas VOD titles, including content from the three terrestrial broadcasters, four general programming channels and categories such as cable, movies, kids, animation and documentaries. Users can also access 255 real-time B tv channels.
When the TV is turned on, it connects directly to a dedicated B tv+ max home screen and can be used without separate content payments. Content being watched on the TV can be continued on up to 4 mobile B tv applications.
The price is 25,300 won a month for IPTV-only subscribers on a three-year contract. It costs 23,100 won a month when bundled with internet service, and 22,000 won a month when bundled with internet service and an SK Telecom mobile phone plan.
SKB will offer prizes through a draw for new subscribers until the end of September, including a 1,000,000 won Korean Air gift card, Lotte Hotel accommodation vouchers, Lotte World passes and Twosome Place coffee coupons.
Park Cham-sol (박참솔), head of platform at SKB, said B tv+ max was planned to ease the inconvenience and cost burden of having to subscribe to multiple OTT services and to provide the content customers want at once. He said the company would expand customers' content experience and develop it into a leading content platform.
