K-Bank is expanding its remote credit operations experience into financing for small and midsized companies.

K-Bank said on June 24 it has begun a project to build a lending system for SME corporate customers.

The core of the project is to build a corporate finance platform that allows SME corporate customers to use the entire process without visiting a branch, from loan application and screening to disbursement and post-loan management.

It aims to digitise corporate lending operations and establish a data-based screening system to improve the accessibility and convenience of corporate finance services.

K-Bank is working toward a 2027 system launch with Samsung SDS as the main contractor, in cooperation with financial and IT firms including Bankware Global, KPMG and Finger. It also plans to use AI-based development technologies to improve efficiency and quality in requirement analysis, design, development and testing.

Once the system is completed, SME corporate customers will be able to use corporate loan services on K-Bank's corporate banking app and website.

A K-Bank official said the move is the first step in expanding remote financial innovation proven in the household and sole proprietor segments to SME corporate customers. The official said it will create an environment in which SME corporate customers, like individual customers, can use mobile services from loan application and screening to disbursement and management.
