[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Crypto investment firm Galaxy Ventures led a $15 million Series A funding round for Karta, a credit card startup for high net worth individuals.

Karta is a premium credit card issued in the United States. It is distributed through more than 80 global private banks and securities firms including Raymond James, Itau, Interactive Brokers, XP and Insigneo.

Karta aims to combine stablecoin infrastructure and AI to provide a differentiated experience for high net worth individuals.

Wealthy people outside the United States may have built long credit histories and assets in their home countries. But without a U.S. Social Security number or an individual taxpayer identification number, they effectively have no history in the U.S. credit system.

They have had to rely on debit cards that charge high fees for overseas payments or on credit cards issued overseas. In Brazil, overseas card payments add a foreign exchange spread and issuer fees, plus a 3.5 percent financial transaction tax, pushing the effective cost to the high single digits.

Karta is focused on filling this gap. Cardholders can access rewards and invitation-only benefits without overseas payment fees, and above all can access unsecured credit and a monthly payment function.

Galaxy Ventures said Karta’s revenue and payment volume rose more than 10-fold in 2025 and grew 4 times again in the first quarter of 2026. Galaxy Ventures said Karta has three elements: a differentiated product, a proven business model and an independent distribution strategy, explaining the investment.
