Woowa Brothers, the operator of the Baedal Minjok food delivery app, will have its mutual growth activities verified by a recognised institution. Woowa Brothers said on June 19 it will voluntarily participate in the "Online Platform Mutual Growth Evaluation" hosted by the Mutual Growth Commission.

The evaluation follows the commission's plan announced on June 16 to 추진 a pilot mutual growth evaluation for the finance, defence industry and online platform sectors. It will be conducted for delivery platform and open market companies, reflecting surveys of perceived impact and performance evaluations of mutual growth cooperation.

Baemin Academy, Baemin's training centre for the restaurant industry, opened in 2014. It provides free training through offline centres in Seoul and Suwon in Gyeonggi Province and through online courses, including recipe practice, labour and tax matters, delivery app and social media marketing, and the use of AI. As of the end of April this year, cumulative enrolment topped 350,000 people.

It is also running support aimed at restaurant owners' households. The "Woowa Boss Children's Scholarship", launched in 2022, provided a total of 9 billion won to 1,578 people over 5 years. The "Woowa Boss Care Fund" provides medical expenses to restaurant owners facing difficulties due to sudden accidents or illness.

In rider safety, logistics affiliate Woowa Youths operates the Baemin Rider School, an offline safety training institution for two-wheeled vehicles. The facility can train 10,000 people a year, and as of last year it had about 23,000 cumulative graduates. The "Delivery Rider Companion Rest Shelter", run in cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, has been operated for 3 consecutive years, and in February last year the company launched the industry’s first rider safety governance body, the Rider Safety Management Committee.

Yoon Seok-jun (윤석준), executive vice president who heads the brand communication strategy division at Woowa Brothers, said Baemin has steadily operated mutual growth programmes with stakeholders in the delivery ecosystem, including restaurant owners and riders. He said participation in the evaluation will help the company review the level of those efforts more systematically and more faithfully play a partner role for sustainable growth of the delivery ecosystem.
