KT will share artificial intelligence (AI) transformation strategies and industry-specific application cases with companies in the Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang region.
KT said on June 18 it will hold “Busan Cloud Day 2026” with the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency (BIPA) at BEXCO in Busan. The event was set up to support AI transformation (AX) in the region’s key industries, including marine, ports and logistics, and shipbuilding, automobiles and heavy industry.
KT will present a plan to provide integrated support for consulting, system building and stronger security based on its Cloudflex cloud service. It will outline an integrated support system covering the infrastructure, models, platforms, tools and services needed to run AI agents. It will also unveil its strategy for “Agentic AI Contact Center,” an AI-based customer service, and an industrial safety AX service aimed at preventing safety accidents and serious workplace disasters at industrial sites.
KT operates key telecoms and data infrastructure in the region, including the Songjeong Global Hub Center, the Gimhae Global Data Center, the PPP Daegu Center and submarine cable landing stations. The Songjeong Global Hub Center is adjacent to KT’s Busan International Telecommunications Center, allowing direct connections from Busan to overseas data centres. KT explained that a dualised system linking the Busan landing station with data centres in the Seoul metropolitan area can ensure service continuity even in disaster situations.
KT provides industry-specific AX solutions based on cooperation with global companies such as Microsoft, Palantir and Databricks. Through its regional business-to-business (B2B) consulting organisation, it supports the full process, including deployment and operations. It is also expanding cooperation with local universities. It provides education network services to Busan National University of Education, Dong-A University, Pukyong National University and Korea Maritime and Ocean University.
KT plans to continue AX business cooperation with public institutions and companies in the Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang region based on the demand it identifies from regional companies at the event.
Sung Won-je (성원제), head of KT’s eastern corporate customer division, said, “Busan is an infrastructure hub where data begins, beyond being a key gateway for expanding global AI services.” He added, “We will actively support KT’s infrastructure and solution know-how so that companies in the Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang region can secure AX competitiveness.”
