KT held a travelling Customer Listening Forum in remote and island areas and conducted hands-on artificial intelligence (AI) training for elementary school students.

KT said on June 18 the Customer Listening Forum is part of its KT Customer Protection 365 task force. The task force was set up in April to enhance a companywide system to protect customer value. The event, the third following sessions for young people in April and senior customers in May, was held on June 17 at Okdong Elementary School in Yeongwol county, Gangwon Province.

KT used the school as a channel to hear local residents' experiences using telecommunications services and their suggestions for improvement. It reviewed the digital environment as perceived by customers in remote and island areas and identified service improvement tasks to enhance convenience. It also conveyed local children's learning environment and their willingness to strengthen future digital capabilities.

An AI basic education programme for elementary school students was also held on site. Students learned the basic principles of AI and took part in exercises to build an AI model using the web-based educational tool Teachable Machine. They improved their understanding of digital technology by learning about the role of telecommunications companies in the AI era and examples of key services.

Okdong-ri in Kim Satgat-myeon, Yeongwol county, Gangwon Province, is where KT pursued a rural broadband network (BcN) buildout project in 2022. BcN is an infrastructure project based on public interest to improve digital access in rural areas. KT is continuing to check the actual usage environment and service quality after building the infrastructure.

Park Hyun-jin (박현진), head of KT's Customer Division and a vice president, said the company would continue to visit a range of customers, reflect voices from the field and work so all customers can use services without inconvenience.
