Mail carriers at post offices will verify whether shops run by closed small business owners have been demolished. The measure aims to speed up support for demolition costs by reducing on-site visits by separate staff.

The Ministry of Science and ICT's Korea Post on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups on on-site verification for shop demolition by closed small business owners. The agreement was 추진됐다 as part of the "Growth Ladder Restoration" policy to support closed small business owners in restarting and finding new jobs.

It will streamline on-site verification procedures for a demolition-cost support programme by using the nationwide post office network. Until now, separate on-site inspection staff visited in person to confirm demolition and then wrote and submitted inspection reports. Going forward, mail carriers will first verify closure and demolition during mail delivery and prepare on-site inspection reports. When additional checks are needed, specialist inspectors will visit the site to improve accuracy.

Korea Post and the SMEs ministry expect that combining nationwide postal infrastructure with specialist on-site inspection staff will enhance fairness and reliability of the programme. The time required for on-site verification and the administrative burden are also expected to decrease.

Korea Post chief In-hwan Park (박인환) said, "We will use the post office's dense postal network to eliminate blind spots in public services and continue expanding field-focused services that people can feel."
