OpenAI Korea said on May 18 it held a ceremony with SBS on May 7 at SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Seoul, to sign a business agreement. It said the companies will present real-time AI collaboration content on SBS’ special June 3 local election vote count broadcast, “2026 The People’s Choice”.
The companies plan to combine SBS’ election broadcast production capabilities with OpenAI’s technology. They plan to quickly and intuitively analyse and process the vast amounts of data that pour in in real time on election day and deliver it to viewers.
Bang Moon-shin (방문신), SBS president, said SBS set this year’s management slogan as “a content leader with AI” and is pushing AI use and internalisation as key tasks. He said he hopes this cooperation expands beyond election broadcasting to various content and new business models.
Kim Kyung-hoon (김경훈), OpenAI Korea’s executive head, said he finds it meaningful to work with SBS ahead of elections, one of the most important processes in democracy, and to be able to deliver more accurate and useful information to the public.
