NCSoft delivered clear first-quarter earnings growth, posting record-high PC revenue on the back of consecutive hits from new releases Aion2 and Lineage Classic.

NCSoft said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday that first-quarter consolidated revenue rose 54.7 percent from a year earlier to 557.4 billion won. Operating profit jumped 2,070.1 percent to 113.3 billion won. Net profit rose 306.4 percent to 152.4 billion won.

By region, revenue was 58 percent from South Korea, 27 percent from Asia and 15 percent from North America and Europe and other regions. The share of overseas revenue expanded to 42 percent, showing a steady rise.

PC game revenue, which posted the most notable growth, surged to 318.4 billion won. It rose 69 percent from the previous quarter and jumped 210 percent from a year earlier, setting a quarterly record. Growth was driven by the full-quarter impact of Aion2 revenue of 136.8 billion won, released in November last year, and strong Lineage Classic revenue of 83.5 billion won. Lineage Classic posted cumulative revenue of 192.4 billion won over 90 days after launch, from Feb. 11 to May 11.

Mobile game revenue was 182.8 billion won. Three major mobile titles are maintaining solid user traffic even after the launch of Lineage Classic, and its flagship title LineageM posted growth from the previous quarter in both revenue and key indicators. The newly included mobile casual segment posted revenue of 35.5 billion won, reflecting performance from investee companies Lihu Hu and SpringComes, helping diversify its business portfolio.

NCSoft plans to start global service for Aion2 in North America, South America, Europe and Japan in the second half of this year. It also plans to roll out new intellectual properties, including Cinder City, Limit Zero Breakers and Time Takers, sequentially after global tests.
